All 50 Level Boosters + 50 GCSE Boosters, together with the Functional Maths presentations are now available to departments on a separte CD. See BUY CD/SECONDARY SCHOOLS and COLLEGES or the appropriate order form under the ORDER FORM button.
An example of how a school can use the LEVEL and GCSE Boosters, simply and effectively via a VLE, can be found at www.cordeaux.net
This is the first of 50 LEVEL Booster interactive presentations. They all have very attractive graphics and are coloured coded by attainment target to make the whole learnig/revising experience more enjoyable.
Let Simon, Jenny, and friends (Snoopy, Hippo, Ollie, Jumbo, Professor and Beaky) take you /your students on a mathematical odyssey through the national curriculum from level 3 to level 6. From pictograms to percentages, fractions to functions, no stone is left unturned. A powerful suite of 800 questions, answers and explanations (editable) is the perfect formula for exam revision/preparation followed by exam success at key stages 2/3 and 4. The trickier concepts are repeatedly targeted and embellished with helpful diagrams and graphics to aid understanding and consolidate the learning process. Students are able to navigate easily around each board using the built in hyperlinks. They decide the level and attainment target then simply click the button to go to the question. Great care has been taken in creating the questions so that they look attractive and appealing to students. Individual students control their own rate of progress and can view answers to questions in their own time. They can also call for on-screen explanations in the majority of cases buy clicking the "EXPLAIN" button if they are unsure of how the answer to a question is derived or require further information on the solution. Answer sheets to all 50 Boards are included so as to allow students to keep track of their own progress and hopefully re-visit those questions that they had difficulty with.
The whole thing is very flexible and teachers may decide to allocate a student/students levels to work across or attainment targets to work down. The editability of the boards also gives teachers flexibility. For instance, a teacher could select a board at random from the 50 available then change the numbers on the front to say 10, 20, 30 and 40 and have a class/group competition based on points. Starters are another area where the maths boards can be used successfully.
This area, as with “Mental Maths 5000” is specifically designed for schools that buy a “Full Site” or VLE licence with the accompanying CD . Whilst the content is very useful as a classroom resource for the teacher, its real power comes from giving access to students at all times and in all areas of the school/home.
A special home/school intranet licence (VLE) is also available on request by schools that have already bought a Full Site licence and wish to extend further. These are already in use at some schools and are priced on an individual basis. This licence is only available to schools that have a fully secured system. Parents will be truly amazed as they observe their children accessing such high quality resources supplied by their school.
Primary/Elementary schools that do not use Microsoft PowerPoint can get a free PowerPoint viewer from www.microsoft.com. This will run all the presentations but you will not be able to edit them.
Overseas Buyers.
Do not be put off by the fact that we are using UK National Curriculum levels. The resources are easily editable and you can for instance change the board to letters (A,B,C,D) or use points such as 10, 20, 30 and 40 for a class competition. Maths (Math) questions are math questions regardless of where you teach. USA visitors to the site should not be concerned about metric units. Just change them to imperial so that they meet your needs.
Please note that you will require PowerPoint XP or higher (2003) to run all of the presentations in this category successfully. You may experience problems trying to run them on PowerPoint 2000 or below. A free PowerPoint viewer (2003) is available from www.microsoft.com. This will run all of the files OK.
