Sampling 1 (Simple Random) |
Data Handling PowerPoint Presentation
This is a PowerPoint math or maths presentation on Simple Random Sampling.
We start by quickly reviewing earlier work on Questionnaires and Surveys and the need to produce a sample. We discuss the important ideas that the sample taken should be representative of the whole population under consideration and that it should not be biased. Three methods of simple random sampling are then introduced. Method 1 is of the type “Numbers drawn from a hat”. This method is explained by use of an example. Method 2 is by use of a “Random number table” and one is used together with an example question to explain the method (available as a printable worksheet for students). Method 3 is by use of a “Random number generator” via a calculator (or spreadsheet) and again an example is given and worked through. This is a straight forward but effective presentation on Simple Random Sampling.
