Please note that sixteen "Twelve Days of Christmas" presentations (of a different type) have recently been added to the new "FESTIVE" Category.
This is an excellent seasonal presentation with music and nice graphics that looks at the problem of how many presents "My true love gave to me" over the Christmas period. This is suitable for a wide range of ability levels. There is something for everyone from Year 4 to Year 11. At a basic level the students are simply asked to calculate the number of presents given on the 12th day. At a slightly more difficult level they are asked to calculate the total number of presents given at the end of the 12th day. The ideas of triangular and tetrahedral numbers are discussed with good use of graphics to help explain them. We then look at these sets of numbers in Pascal's triangle and find that both our original answers are also located there. This part is Ideal for those that have already completed the Pascal's Triangle presentation. We conclude at a higher level by looking at the formulas for both types of number. There is a worksheet included. Enjoy the singing and Merry Christmas!
After downloading, make sure that both the PowerPoint and the music file are extracted to the same folder/directory to ensure you get sound. If you experience difficulty getting the sound, try placing both files in a directory on the DESKTOP. In a small number of cases you may not get the sound so be prepared for this.
