Functional Mathematics PowerPoint Presentation
|
 |
This is a large presentation that covers the vast majority of the functional maths "coverage and range" at both levels 1 and 2 with 40 carefully targeted questions.
We start by looking briefly at the history of the tower and its construction for the centenary of the French revolution. We then ask the open question "What maths might be involved in the Eiffel Tower?
The range of mathematics used is extensive and some of the topics covered include the 4 operations, handling negative numbers, percentages, fractions of quantities, addition/subtraction of fractions, ratio and proportion, scale, mean mode and median, pie charts, graphs, two step functions and conversion of measures. The presentation concludes with a very nice investigation for the more able students and one which you are sure to enjoy yourselves!
Towards the end there are printable student question sheets/teacher Q + A sheets and all the worksheets that are needed. This is an excellent resource on functional maths that you and your class will thoroughly enjoy.
