Mystic Nautilus + Invert the Triangle of Coins.
This Mystic Nautilus presentation is superb and can be regarded as having two strands.
There is the puzzle element about finding the number of lines. For this the idea of triangular numbers may or may not be appropriate depending on the group.
Then there is the construction itself which many students (of all abilities) really enjoy. The end slide contains the printable worksheet for this. Remind them that a pen with a fine nib is needed. It looks particularly good in black ink (although many students will want to use colours). When complete it makes an exceptionally nice wall display.
When demonstrating to the class you can choose from 3 different layouts: coloured pen on white background/black pen on white background or white pen on black background (see slides). It's quite something to watch it develop over about a two minute period. Don't be without this one, you'll use it forever!
The solution to Invert the Triangle is shown very clearly with use of colour and animation.
A brilliant couple of presentations that everyone should have.
