Investigation PowerPoint Presentation

 |
This is an excellent presentation on palindromic numbers. After the introduction of “word/sentence palindromes†we investigate palindromic numbers in a variety of contexts such as Pascal’s Triangle/calendar dates for 2012/digital clocks and reversals. Students have a worksheet to investigate reversals from 10 to 100 and the number of steps taken for each number to become a palindrome (students encouraged to think systematically rather than wasting time in reversing every number). A full tabulated solution showing the step frequency for each reversal is included as is the full 24 steps taken to make 89 a palindrome. We finish off by suggesting that students investigate powers of 11. This is an attractive treasure trove for palindrome fans.
