A Key Stage 1 Primary Maths PowrPoint Presentation
|
 |
This is a Key Stage 1 primary maths presentation on odd and even numbers. The presentation opens with nice animation and sound showing clearly the important mathematical idea that even numbers are made of two's and that odd numbers are made of two's with one left over. We then get the students to shade in the even numbers in a given number grid and encourage them to discover that all even numbers end in either, 2, 4, 6, 8, or 0 and that odd numbers end in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9. We then give them some big numbers of increasing length and they have to decide whether they are odd or even. We then look at a series of number walls in which the students have to find routes of odd then even numbers to the top. This is followed by 8 interactive slides with nice animation and sound effects which can be used either by the teacher or student. Sixteen numbered balls drop one at a time into the centre grid and you have to click on the odd numbers to make them disappear (first four) then the even numbers (last 4). We conclude by briefly looking at the important mathematical idea that when two odd numbers are added together the result is always even and we show the same result for adding two even numbers. A worksheet is included. Don't be without this one!
