Weight/Mass (scales)

Measures PowerPoint Presentation

Weight/Mass (scales)

This is a math or maths PowerPoint presentation on Weight. We introduce a weighing scale that weighs objects up to 1 kg. A variety of animated objects are dropped onto the scale and the pointer spins to show the weight. The children have to read the weight from looking at the pointer. Some worksheets included.

This presentation uses the term “weight” throughout. This is mainly for the benefit of primary/elementary school teachers as the younger children may not have been introduced to the concept of mass.
Teachers who wish to use mass should simply use the EDIT /REPLACE ALL command.

Most of the work has focused on a 1kg scale (first 23 slides) with a variety of problems and it is likely that you will want to cover this sequentially. After this an extra 32 slides have been added that give a choice of different scales/subdivisions. There are 8 new scales each giving 4 examples. They are ½ kg, 400 g, 600 g, 800 g, 1 kg (different to the first), 2 kg, 4 kg and 5 kg. It is likely that you will want to dip in and out of these as you see fit depending on your class.

Teachers that have purchased this presentation before the new 32 slides were added may request this updated presentation for free.
