Data Handling PowerPoint Presentation
This is a PowerPoint math or maths presentation on Standard Deviation. We start by looking at earlier averages and measures of spread that we have encountered in summarizing a set of data. We then move on to look briefly at the more intuitive idea of mean deviation before defining standard deviation. We use the standard deviation formula to solve several questions before moving on to single data entry with use of a scientific calculator. Example questions using the key sequences for four common calculators are then available as individual slides for the teacher.
The calculators in question are the Casio fx-83ES, Casio fx-83MS, Sharp EL-531VH and the TEXET ALBERT3.
After this we look at calculating the standard deviation from a frequency table. Again the key sequences are given for each calculator. These are available as printed worksheets on the last few slides if needed. We also look at “Comparing” data and “Related” data. This is a comprehensive presentation on standard deviation offering you all that you need. Has worksheets for all example/student questions.
