"This really is the best Functional Maths stuff around and is saving us a lot of hard work" DB, Head of Maths, Range High School, Specialist Mathematics School"
This is a functional maths presentation containing 50 questions spanning a large proportion of the "Coverage and range" at both levels 1 and 2.
This is the most famous and dramatic railway journey in England and the presentation goes far beyond simply reading timetables. We start by looking at a little history of the line before moving on to the maths. We have questions on timetables and ticket prices as you would expect but there is a great deal more including interpretation of a gradient graph showing the line as it moves from station to station along the route. There are lots and lots of questions within the area of the 3 peaks around Horton in Ribblesdale. A diagram/map shows the peaks and their relative positions to the local stations of Horton, Ribblehead and Dent. There is plenty of stuff on conversions of units plus work on distances/bearings/temperatures as well as the 3 averages. We conclude with both "distance to horizon formulae" for visibility in miles and kilometres. A stunning presentation set in stunning scenery with some stunning photographs.
Contains printable teacher Q + A sheets, student question sheets and all the worksheets that you need. Everyone will enjoy this. Makes you want to put your boots on.
