Differentiation 2 (Stationary Points)

Differentiation Stationary Points Maths PowerPoint Presentation
We examine the standard three methods for determining the stationary points (maxima and minima) on the curve of y = f(x) where f(x) is a polynomial. Points of inflexion are not discussed in this presentation. A wide variety of graphed functions are looked at. We use the usual dy/dx notation throughout although slides 18 to 21 look at using the alternative functional notation f’(x) and f’’(x) and gives the students the opportunity to work some problems using this notation.
