This is a very nice investigation on polyhexes with enhanced use of colour, graphics and animation. After the introduction of the hex, di-hex and tri-hex the students are asked to find all the tetra-hexes (avoiding the duplicates of rotation/reflection). After this, a bigger challenge is to find all 22 distinct penta-hex. These are provided as an animated solution with use of colour to show how they can all be found by thinking systematically! A worksheet of triangular spotty paper is provided at slide 8. A tetra-hex puzzle to complete a parallelogram is given at slide 7.
