Shape and Space Powerpoint Presentation

Looks at regular tessellations and explains why there is a restricted set. Basic drawing of tessellations on a grid is covered. We take a look at some semi-regular tessellations. An interactive element enables a student to click on a tile and see the tessellation fill the whole of the whiteboard. (very popular) There is extension material for the more able student. This takes the form of an investigation into finding out how many regular and semi-regular tessellations exist by considering angle sums around adjacent vertices. Concludes with information on the life of M C Escher and shows some of his prints. Worksheets of polygonal tiles included.
